Dems Keep Carping Despite Troop Morale Poll

It's hard to read the Bush disapproval ratings. Some disapprove because he's being to tough and hawkish and others disapprove because they thinks he not being tough enough.
Dems Keep Carping Despite Troop Morale Poll
"The anti-war showboating by top Democrats continues despite the findings of an RT Strategies poll released over the weekend, which showed that 70 percent of Americans believe that Iraq war criticism by Democratic Senators is hurting troop morale."

Stand aside, Murtha, and let the job get done

The anti-Bush crowd has been complaining about the war on terror for over two years while offering do alternative. So they finally come up with a plan and it's cut and run. That's a plan?
Voice of the reader - billingsgazette.com
"Some media types are labeling J.D. Hayworth a genius for his resolution forcing the Democrats to vote for or against pulling out of Iraq immediately. (It lost 403-3.) I say it's simple boredom. For months, the Democrats have attacked Bush and the war in Iraq. Finally, a Republican with, I suspect, time on his hands comes to Bush and our soldiers' defense. "

Pelosi Calls for Withdrawal From Iraq

Pelosi flip-flops. She had a chance to vote for immediate surrender but didn't. Two weeks later she says she wants out again.
Pelosi Calls for Withdrawal From Iraq - Yahoo! News

A Hero Speaks

An interview with Bud Day.
FrontPage magazine.com :: A Hero Speaks by Jamie Glazov
"August 26, 1967, Air Force Major (later Colonel) George 'Bud' Day was hit in his F-100 just north of the DMZ. During ejection he smashed one knee and broke his right arm in three places. The North Vietnamese were waiting for his parachute. Taken prisoner, he was given a novocaine shot and put in a primitive and painful cast on his arm. Day was bound at the ankles and carried to a small underground bunker. After dark, he managed to untie the ropes and crawled out of the bunker and began moving South. This began one of the remarkable sagas of the Vietnam war. For almost two weeks, Day traveled by night and hid during the day to conserve his strength and avoid capture. He ate frogs and berries to keep going. Hallucinating and barely able to move his legs, he came to a knoll and looked down at a U.S. Army unit less than a mile away. As he started to move toward it, a North Vietnamese soldier came up behind him and shouted at him to stop. Day made a run for it and heard rifle shots, then went down, hit in the hand and thigh.
This time there was no escape. He was trussed up and taken on a forced march north, tied to trees some nights by his damaged arm and interrogated. When asked who his fellow flyers were, he gave names such as Charles Lindbergh and Billy Mitchell. Arriving at the Hanoi Hilton, Day became the cornerstone of the U.S. prisoners' resistance. As with the other POWs, Day was tortured constantly, suspended by his arms and whipped. His broken arm healed improperly. He was denied treatment for the hand in which he had been shot; every day he pressed his fingers against the wall of his cell and pushed to keep the muscles from contracting into a claw.
Day took the under remitting torture and kept offering maximum resistance. John McCain has credited Day with saving his life in the prison and has called him the bravest man he ever met. This is a sentiment shared by many of the other POWs who have made Bud Day a legendary figure in the years since they came out of captivity.
Bud Day is the most highly decorated military officer since Gen Douglas MacArthur. He holds some seventy decorations and awards, including every significant combat award. Along with his cellmate James Stockdale, he received the Medal of Honor from President Gerald Ford in 1976."

Name Game: It's Now the 'Capitol Christmas Tree'

More Sentimental Coddling of Criminals

Michelle Malkin: THE TOOKIE FILES
"Convicted murderer Stanley 'Tookie' Williams, the co-founder of the violent Crips gang who is on Death Row in California, is Hollyweird's current cause celebre. He is scheduled to be executed on Dec. 13 after 24 years of legal wrangling. The San Francisco Chronicle reports today that Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger has decided to hold a clemency hearing Dec. 8.
Williams was convicted of murdering four innocent bystanders with a sawed-off shotgun in 1979. There was nothing peaceful or compassionate about the way [Albert Owens], Thsai-Shai Yang, Yen-I Yang and Yee Chen Lin died. Owen[s] was a white teen-age clerk at a 7-11 convenience store, shot twice in the back of the head -- execution-style -- as he lay unarmed on the floor during a hold-up. A witness testified that Williams mocked the gurgling sounds Owen[s] made as he lay dying. 'You should have heard the way he sounded when I shot him,' the witness quoted Williams."

A bad week for Zarqawi

And here's to many more.
- toledoblade.com -
"It would have been a really, really bad week if Zarqawi had been among the seven al-Qaeda leaders killed in Mosul Nov. 19. But even though he got away again, he had a rotten week.
That was also a bad week for anti-war Democrats, who had their bluff called in the House of Representatives.
Zarqawi's bad week was a product of the suicide bombings he orchestrated Nov. 9 against three hotels in Amman, Jordan. The bombings resulted in 62 deaths, mostly of Arabs attending a wedding.
Because of its large Palestinian population, Jordan had been the country most supportive of al-Qaeda.
No longer. On Nov. 18, more than 200,000 Jordanians took to the streets to demonstrate against al-Qaeda. Zarqawi is Jordanian, but his tribe has disowned him."

Boston "holiday tree" stirs controversy

More attempts by the secular counter-culture forces to steal Christmas. The new image of Christmas now is apparently the sight of greedy shoppers being trampled as they charge into stores that don't even say 'Merry Christmas' or allow Salvation Army kettles on the premises anymore.
US News Article | Reuters.com
"BOSTON (Reuters) - Boston set off a furor this week when it officially renamed a giant tree erected in a city park a 'holiday tree' instead of a 'Christmas tree.'
The Nova Scotia logger who cut down the 48-foot (14-meter) tree was indignant and said he would not have donated the tree if he had known of the name change."

Sam Johnson Blasts Iraq War Naysayers

The 'anti' crowd is pushing the Vietnam playbook hard of late. Is it working? Are the country and the troops are getting demoralized.?
Sam Johnson Blasts Iraq War Naysayers
"Former combat pilot-hero Rep. Sam Johnson is blasting Democratic critics of the Iraq war for undermining the morale of the troops and emboldening the enemy by calling for an early withdrawal.
Johnson vowed not to let Congress undermine today's troops, the way it did during Vietnam, saying: 'So help me God, I will never, ever let our nation make those mistakes again. Never.' "

Al-Qaida Devastated by U.S. Offensive

Why don't we hear this kind of stuff from our US media? The Republicans don't talk about it much either and the Democrats sure don't bring it up.
Al-Qaida Devastated by U.S. Offensive
"The U.S. military's recent offensive in western Iraq has had a devastating impact on the al-Qaida-backed insurgency, with coalition forces killing over 700 terrorists and capturing 1,500 in the last two months alone.
'It's been very successful,' Maj. Gen. Rick Lynch told a briefing in Baghdad on Wednesday, referring to a series of security offensives conducted by U.S. and Iraq forces in Anbar province since September 28."

'Wanted' Billboards Cropping Up Across U.S.

How about billboards like this in Baghdad and all across Iraq to help set the tone over there?
'Wanted' Billboards Cropping Up Across U.S. - Yahoo! News
"CINCINNATI - Wanted posters offering rewards for Jesse James and other outlaws were a common sight in America's Old West. Now a modern twist on that idea is showing up increasingly across the country: wanted billboards. Many of the billboards, which typically include a suspect's photo or a sketch drawn from witness descriptions, have resulted in tips leading to an arrest."

MoveOn Ad Targets 'US Occupation of Iraq'

New ad for the Democrats politicizes the work of US combat troops.
MoveOn Ad Targets 'US Occupation of Iraq' -- 11/22/2005
"(CNSNews.com) - A liberal advocacy group plans to air a new TV ad over the Thanksgiving holiday attacking Republicans for 'failing to offer a plan' to end 'the U.S. occupation of Iraq.'
MoveOn.org Political Action said its new ad 'echoes Democrats' calls for an exit plan.'
The ad will run nationwide on CNN -- the cable network that flashed a big black X over Vice President Dick Cheney's face during a live feed of Cheney's speech to the American Enterprise Institute on Monday.
The 30-second ad opens with a family seated around the Thanksgiving table, heads bowed in prayer. 'Some folks won't be home this holiday season,' the announcer says.
'Cut to a shot of forlorn soldiers in Iraq with mess kits,' the press release said. The announcer says 150,000 American men and women are 'stuck in Iraq.'
Enter President Bush and Vice President Cheney: 'Their president misled America to send them in and has no plan to get them out,' the script says, adding that 'Democrats in Congress are leading the way home.' "

CNN explains 'X' glitch over Cheney's face

Once the dominant cable new channel, CNN's left slant on the news has caused it to fall far behind the more balanced news presentation on the Fox News Channel. They flashed a large "X" over the Vice President's face when Cheney argued against the Left's demands for a Vietnam surrender type pullout in Iraq. CNN wants people to believe it was a computer glitch. They also have a bridge in Brooklyn they'd like to sell you.

Vietnam provided a lesson in respect

When Johnny came marching home ...
Rocky Mountain News: Speakout
"Back in 1966, I started attending the University of Colorado. I had a lot of crazy friends, some of whom were musicians. I was a groupie. I thought I was pretty cool because I could hang out with the guys in the band, get into places free, get beer and talk to cute girls - after all, I was a stagehand with a band. I got into the party scene so heavily that school soon slipped by the wayside.
I wasn't a very mature 19-year- old, and CU didn't think so either. It wasn't long before my student deferment went away and my classification for service in the armed forces changed to 1-A. When I received 'the letter' - my draft induction notice - I thought, what am I going to do now?"

The Tin Ear: Democrats and the 'Vietnamization' of Iraq

Didn't we learn anything from Vietnam?
The Tin Ear: Democrats and the 'Vietnamization' of Iraq
"In the early 1970s America became all too familiar with the term 'Vietnamization.' By it was meant that American troops were being pulled out as properly trained South Vietnamese troops were being brought in to replace them. This process took place successfully until the Democrats, who overwhelmingly controlled Congress, ceased funding the South Vietnamese Government in violation of their commitment as laid out in the Paris Peace Accords. This was a humiliating defeat for American foreign policy which had far reaching and devastating effects on the citizens of South Vietnam and a far reaching and destructive effect on the psyche of the American People. For the first time, Americans were faced with the inability of our government to sustain a commitment to fight our enemies. It led to the humiliating scenes of helicopters fleeing with the last evacuees from the city of Saigon, and those same helicopters, once emptied of passengers, being unceremoniously shoved overboard from the deck of our carriers."

Soldier Lies for Lighter Term

Over-zealous prosecutong of soldiers for murder in a combat zone can obviously lead to lies like this.

The real secret to defeating radical Islam

Can a few thousand guys with car bombs terrorize an entire country and defeat the USA?
WorldNetDaily: The real secret to defeating radical Islam
"I'm looking at a photograph of a beautiful young Christian girl who has just been beheaded by a gang of six rampaging, machete-wielding Muslim radicals.
Her bloody body is lying on an autopsy table. A few inches to the left of her torso lies her severed head, nestled in a bunched-up black plastic trash bag. Delicate features, lovely dark hair matted with blood, eyes closed, her face appears sad and almost serene, prompting one to reflect on the incomprehensible brutality and terror she must have experienced.
....
There's a funny thing about appeasement. It's hard to give in to evil without first agreeing with that evil, at least a little. We have to allow our minds to be bent, our previous values and perceptions altered, even slightly; we somehow have to see the terrorists as not quite totally evil. 'Yes, they may be angry and even murderous, but after all, don't they have legitimate grievances against us? Maybe we brought on this attack by our past actions. Maybe we're at fault. Maybe their cause is just. Maybe we're the real terrorists.'
Does that sound like an exaggeration? Do you remember Cindy Sheehan, so lionized by America's "mainstream press" as the courageous public face of the antiwar movement? She referred to Islamic terrorists flocking to Iraq to kill American soldiers as 'freedom fighters.' Meanwhile she calls the president of the United States a 'lying bastard,' a 'jerk,' an 'evil maniac,' a 'gangster,' a 'war criminal,' a 'murderous thug' and – of course – a 'terrorist.'
To become an appeaser, you have to sympathize with the enemy, either overtly like Sheehan, or secretly."

Rep. John Murtha Urged Somalia Pullout in '93

Weakness invites boldness by the enemy everytime.
Rep. John Murtha Urged Somalia Pullout in '93
"After terrorists attacked U.S. troops in Mogadishu, Somalia 12 years ago, anti-Iraq war Democrat, Rep. John Murtha urged then-President Clinton to begin a complete pullout of U.S. troops from the region.
Clinton took the advice and ordered the withdrawal - a decision that Osama bin Laden would later credit with emboldening his terrorist fighters and encouraging him to mount further attacks against the U.S."

Getting the Lowdown on Iraq

They want more troops but don't want a draft. It's going to be really tough to get volunteers to fight the war on terrorism when there is not a united front behind our soldiers. The Democrats keeps calling it a mistake, accusing Bush of lying, refusing to let recruiters even talk to potential volunteers, calling for US forces to quit and return home leaving the victory to Zarqawi. Who would volunteer to fight with support like that? Un-united we don't stand.
TIME.com: Getting the Lowdown on Iraq -- Nov. 28, 2005 -- Page 1
"There are about 160,000 U.S. troops now in Iraq, a number U.S. commanders in the region plan to maintain at least through the Iraqi national assembly elections on Dec. 15. But the battalion commanders, according to sources close to last week's meeting, said that because there are not enough troops, they have to 'leapfrog' around Iraq to keep insurgents from returning to towns that have been cleared out."

Al-Zarqawi's Jordan Family Renounces Him

I don't buy it. Why didn't they speak up before when he was beheading Westerners? They are just scared because 200,000 Jordanians marched against Zarqawi for bombing a Muslim wedding. His family should have been rounded up and thown in jail or shot a long time ago.

Democrats' amnesia too half-baked to shake resolve

The Democrats, in their haste to embarrass Bush, have joined the anti-American media in condemning US troops for using white phosphorus rounds in Iraq. Since when is WP a chemical weapon?
The Australian: Democrats' amnesia too half-baked to shake resolve
"WP is not a chemical weapon, and is not banned by any treaty to which the US is signatory. It has been used by the armed forces in all countries in wars for decades. Indeed, if you look up the roll of US Congressional Medal of Honour winners, you will discover that quite a few received this highest military decoration precisely because they used 'shake and bake' to successful effect.
I wait with anticipation for the shocking evidence that the US has used 'bullets' and 'bombs' in its attacks on the enemy."

Looking at Iraq through Vietnam

I think this guy has it right and it's a shame so many Americans (just like in the Vietnam days) want the other guys to win.
Rhode Island news | projo.com | The Providence Journal | Opinion: Columnists
"At a critical point in our common history, we stood before the Muslim world and entered Iraq. With all Muslims as witness, we promised Iraq's people a better country. Whatever mistakes we have made, if we now depart one day sooner -- or stay in force one day longer -- than it takes to keep that promise, both our honor and our deepest interests will lie in ruins."

Clinton continues the back stabbing

After calling America's sacrifice to protect itself against terrorism and free the Iraqi people a 'big mistake' in front of a Middle East Muslim audience, he went on to call Saddam's administration 'good' and 'decent' people. WTF??? He is apparently talking about Saddam's two murdering sons, Uday and Qusay, Chemical Ali and a bunch of other Sunni Baathist tyrants who terrorized the Shiites and used WMDs on the Kurds. Clinton is apparently still bitter about Republicans impeaching and disbarring him and will not support the country's leaders.

Co-payments for VA prescriptions to rise $1

Still a pretty good deal and better than the $15 fee that the Bush administration proposed.
Army Times - News - More News
"The Department of Veterans Affairs announced Wednesday that co-payments charged for prescription drugs will increase by $1 on Jan. 1.
However, the $8 fee does not apply to everyone. Most veterans receiving prescriptions from the VA are being treated for service-connected disabilities or health care problems that exempt them from the co-payments."

JDAM Putting Artillery Out of Business

Warplane Weapons
"The air force controllers, and the bombers overhead, are getting smart bombs on target so quickly and accurately, that ground commanders are favoring the bombs over calling their artillery."

More 'support' for the troops

True to form and two and a half years after the fact, the do-nothing former president playing to a Middle East audience of young Muslims in Dubai says we should have left Saddam in power and not invaded Iraq. I guess 'United We Stand' was just a temporary slogan. More ammo for Saddam's defense where he still claims to be the legitimate ruler of Iraq. This must be very comforting to the families of soldiers who died fighting for Iraqi freedom and to the soldiers recovering in hospitals. It's a shame but then we all know that Clinton never did have any shame.
Jerusalem Post | Breaking News from Israel, the Middle East and the Jewish World
"The United States made a 'big mistake' when it invaded Iraq, former President Bill Clinton said Wednesday."

A Report from the Ground in Iraq

Gary Goedecke received a copy of this letter of a father's talk with his son who has served in Iraq...
Hello to all my fellow gunners, military buffs, veterans and interested guys. A couple of weekends ago I got to spend time with my son Jordan, who was on his first leave since returning from Iraq. He is well (a little thin), and already bored. He will be returning to Iraq for a second tour in early '06 and has already re-enlisted early for 4 more years. He loves the Marine Corps and is actually looking forward to returning to Iraq.
Jordan spent 7 months at "Camp Blue Diamond" in Ramadi. Aka: Fort Apache. He saw and did a lot and the following is what he told me about weapons, equipment, tactics and other miscellaneous info which may be of interest to you. Nothing is by any means classified. No politics here, just a Marine with a bird's eye view's opinions:
1) The M-16 rifle: Thumbs down. Chronic jamming problems with the talcum powder like sand over there. The sand is everywhere. Jordan says you feel filthy 2 minutes after coming out of the shower. The M-4 carbine version is more popular because it's lighter and shorter, but it has jamming problems also. They like the ability to mount the various optical gunsights and weapons lights on the picattiny rails, but the weapon itself is not great in a desert environment. They all hate the 5.56mm (.223) round. Poor penetration on the cinderblock structure common over there and even torso hits cant be reliably counted on to put the enemy down. Fun fact: Random autopsies on dead insurgents shows a high level of opiate use.
2) The M243 SAW (squad assault weapon): .223 cal. Drum fed light machine gun. Big thumbs down. Universally considered a piece of shit. Chronic jamming problems, most of which require partial disassembly. (that's fun in the middle of a firefight).
3) The M9 Beretta 9mm: Mixed bag. Good gun, performs well in desert environment; but they all hate the 9mm cartridge. The use of handguns for self-defense is actually fairly common. Same old story on the 9mm: Bad guys hit multiple times and still in the fight.
4) Mossberg 12ga. Military shotgun: Works well, used frequently for clearing houses to good effect.
5) The M240 Machine Gun: 7.62 Nato (.308) cal. belt fed machine gun, developed to replace the old M-60 (what a beautiful weapon that was!!). Thumbs up. Accurate, reliable, and the 7.62 round puts 'em down. Originally developed as a vehicle mounted weapon, more and more are being dismounted and taken into the field by infantry. The 7.62 round chews up the structure over there.
6) The M2 .50 cal heavy machine gun: Thumbs way, way up. "Ma deuce" is still worth her considerable weight in gold. The ultimate fight stopper, puts their dicks in the dirt every time. The most coveted weapon in-theater.
7) The .45 pistol: Thumbs up. Still the best pistol round out there. Everybody authorized to carry a sidearm is trying to get their hands on one. With few exceptions, can reliably be expected to put 'em down with a torso hit. The special ops guys (who are doing most of the pistol work) use the HK military model and supposedly love it. The old government model .45's are being re-issued en masse.
8) The M-14: Thumbs up. They are being re-issued in bulk, mostly in a modified version to special ops guys. Modifications include lightweight Kevlar stocks and low power red dot or ACOG sights. Very reliable in the sandy environment, and they love the 7.62 round.
9) The Barrett .50 cal sniper rifle: Thumbs way up. Spectacular range and
accuracy and hits like a freight train. Used frequently to take out vehicle suicide bombers (we actually stop a lot of them) and barricaded enemy. Definitely here to stay.
10) The M24 sniper rifle: Thumbs up. Mostly in .308 but some in 300 win mag. Heavily modified Remington 700's. Great performance. Snipers have been used heavily to great effect. Rumor has it that a marine sniper on his third tour in Anbar province has actually exceeded Carlos Hathcock's record for confirmed kills with OVER 100.
11) The new body armor: Thumbs up. Relatively light at approx. 6 lbs. and can reliably be expected to soak up small shrapnel and even will stop an AK-47 round. The bad news: Hot as shit to wear, almost unbearable in the summer heat (which averages over 120 degrees). Also, the enemy now goes for head shots whenever possible. All the bullshit about the "old" body armor making our guys vulnerable to the IED's was a non-starter. The IED explosions are enormous and body armor doesn't make any difference at all in most cases.
12) Night Vision and Infrared Equipment: Thumbs way up. Spectacular performance. Our guys see in the dark and own the night, period. Very little enemy action after evening prayers. More and more enemy being whacked at night during movement by our hunter-killer teams. We've all seen the videos.
13) Lights: Thumbs up. Most of the weapon mounted and personal lights are Surefire's, and the troops love 'em. Invaluable for night urban operations. Jordan carried a $34 Surefire G2 on a neck lanyard and loved it. I cant help but notice that most of the good fighting weapons and ordnance are 50 or more years old! With all our technology, it's the WWII and Vietnam era weapons that everybody wants! The infantry fighting is frequent, up close and brutal. No quarter is given or shown.
Bad guy weapons:
1) Mostly AK47's The entire country is an arsenal. Works better in the desert than the M16 and the .308 Russian round kills reliably. PKM belt fed light machine guns are also common and effective. Luckily, the enemy mostly shoots like shit. Undisciplined "spray and pray" type fire. However, they are seeing more and more precision weapons, especially sniper rifles. (Iran, again) Fun fact: captured enemy have apparently marveled at the marksmanship of our guys and how hard they fight. They are apparently told in Jihad school that the Americans rely solely
on technology, and can be easily beaten in close quarters combat for their lack of toughness. Let's just say they know better now.
2) The RPG: Probably the infantry weapon most feared by our guys. Simple, reliable and as common as dogshit. The enemy responded to our up-armored humvees by aiming at the windshields, often at point blank range. Still killing a lot of our guys.
3) The IED: The biggest killer of all. Can be anything from old Soviet anti-armor mines to jury rigged artillery shells. A lot found in Jordan's area were in abandoned cars. The enemy would take 2 or 3 155mm artillery shells and wire them together. Most were detonated by cell phone, and the explosions are enormous. You're not safe in any vehicle, even an M1 tank. Driving is by far the most dangerous thing our guys do over there. Lately, they are much more sophisticated "shape charges" (Iranian) specifically designed to penetrate armor. Fact: Most of the ready made IED's are supplied by Iran, who is also providing terrorists (Hezbollah types) to train the insurgents in their use and tactics. That's why the attacks have been so deadly lately. Their concealment methods are ingenious, the latest being shape charges in Styrofoam containers spray painted to look like the cinderblocks that litter all Iraqi roads. We find about 40% before they detonate, and the bomb disposal guys are unsung heroes of this war.
4) Mortars and rockets: Very prevalent. The soviet era 122mm rockets (with an 18km range) are becoming more prevalent. One of Jordan's NCO's lost a leg to one. These weapons cause a lot of damage "inside the wire". Jordan's base was hit almost daily his entire time there by mortar and rocket fire, often at night to disrupt sleep patterns and cause fatigue (It did). More of a psychological weapon than anything else. The enemy mortar teams would jump out of vehicles, fire a few rounds, and then haul ass in a matter of seconds.
5) Bad guy technology: Simple yet effective. Most communication is by cell and satellite phones, and also by email on laptops. They use handheld GPS units for navigation and "Google earth" for overhead views of our positions. Their weapons are good, if not fancy, and prevalent. Their explosives and bomb technology is TOP OF THE LINE. Night vision is rare. They are very careless with their equipment and
the captured GPS units and laptops are treasure troves of Intel when captured.
Who are the bad guys?:
Most of the carnage is caused by the Zarqawi Al Qaeda group. They operate mostly in Anbar province (Fallujah and Ramadi). These are mostly "foreigners", non-Iraqi Sunni Arab Jihadists from all over the Muslim world (and Europe). Most enter Iraq through Syria (with, of course, the knowledge and complicity of the Syrian govt.) , and then travel down the "rat line" which is the trail of towns along the Euphrates River that we've been hitting hard for the last few months. Some are virtually untrained young Jihadists that often end up as suicide bombers or in "sacrifice squads". Most, however, are hard core terrorists from all the usual suspects (Al Qaeda, Hezbollah, Hamas etc.) These are the guys running around murdering civilians en masse and cutting heads off. The Chechens (many of whom are Caucasian), are supposedly the most ruthless and the best fighters. (they have been fighting the Russians for years). In the Baghdad area and south, most of the insurgents are Iranian inspired (and led) Iraqi Shiites. The Iranian Shiia have been very adept at
infiltrating the Iraqi local govt.'s, the police forces and the Army. The have had
a massive spy and agitator network there since the Iran-Iraq war in the early 80's. Most of the Saddam loyalists were killed, captured or gave up long ago.
Bad Guy Tactics:
When they are engaged on an infantry level they get their asses kicked every time. Brave, but stupid. Suicidal Banzai-type charges were very common earlier in the war and still occur. They will literally sacrifice 8-10 man teams in suicide squads by sending them screaming and firing Ak's and RPG's directly at our bases just to probe the defenses. They get mowed down like grass every time. (see the M2 and M240 above). Jordan's base was hit like this often. When engaged, they have a tendency
to flee to the same building, probably for what they think will be a glorious last stand. Instead, we call in air and that's the end of that more often than not. These hole-ups are referred to as Alpha Whiskey Romeo's (Allah's Waiting Room). We have the laser guided ground-air thing down to a science. The fast mover's, mostly Marine F-18's, are taking an ever increasing toll on the enemy. When caught out in the open, the helicopter gunships and AC-130 Spectre gunships cut them to ribbons with cannon and rocket fire, especially at night. Interestingly, artillery is hardly used at all. Fun fact: The enemy death toll is supposedly between 45-50 thousand. That is why we're seeing less and less infantry attacks and more IED, suicide bomber shit. The new strategy is simple: attrition. The insurgent tactic most frustrating is their use of civilian non-combatants as cover. They know we do all we can to avoid civilian casualties and therefore schools, hospitals and (especially) Mosques are locations where they meet, stage for attacks, cache weapons and ammo and flee to when engaged. They have absolutely no regard whatsoever for civilian casualties. They will terrorize locals and murder without hesitation anyone believed to be sympathetic to the Americans or the new Iraqi govt. Kidnapping of family members (especially children) is common to influence people they are trying to influence but can't reach, such as local govt. officials, clerics, tribal leaders, etc.). The first thing our guys are told is "don't get captured". They know that if captured they will be tortured and beheaded on the internet. Zarqawi openly offers bounties for anyone who brings him a live American
serviceman. This motivates the criminal element who otherwise don't give a shit about the war. A lot of the beheading victims were actually kidnapped by common criminals and sold to Zarqawi. As such, for our guys, every fight is to the death. Surrender is not an option.
The Iraqi's are a mixed bag. Some fight well, others aren't worth a shit. Most do okay with American support. Finding leaders is hard, but they are getting better. It is widely viewed that Zarqawi's use of suicide bombers, en masse, against the civilian population was a serious tactical mistake. Many Iraqi's were galvanized and the caliber of recruits in the Army and the police forces went up, along with their motivation. It also led to an exponential increase in good intel because the Iraqi's are sick of the insurgent attacks against civilians. The Kurds are solidly pro-American and fearless fighters.
According to Jordan, morale among our guys is very high. They not only believe they are winning, but that they are winning decisively. They are stunned and dismayed by what they see in the American press, whom they almost universally view as against them. The embedded reporters are despised and distrusted. They are inflicting casualties at a rate of 20-1 and then see shit like "Are we losing in Iraq" on TV
and the print media. For the most part, they are satisfied with their equipment, food and leadership. Bottom line though, and they all say this, there are not
enough guys there to drive the final stake through the heart of the insurgency, primarily because there aren't enough troops in-theater to shut down the borders with Iran and Syria. The Iranians and the Syrians just can't stand the thought of Iraq being an American ally (with, of course, permanent US bases there).
That's it, hope you found it interesting, I sure did.

A John Kerry wannabe?

More on the wacked out Marine... The Associated Press splashed this false story of atrocities by US troops in Iraq and still hasn't apologized or retracted it. Why is such a large part of our own American media so anti-American? And what's up with Massey? Is he trying to be the new John Kerry? Does he plan to run for president 30 years from now? If so, I'm sure there will be plenty of Iraq war vets to get the truth out just like the Swiftboat vets did in 2004.
Investor's Business Daily: For Our Freedom
"Media Bias: If American support for the liberation of Iraq is declining, it is in no small measure because of the way the media trumpet the words of liars and distort the words of heroes.
Former Marine Staff Sgt. Jimmy Massey was discharged in December 2003 shortly after returning from Iraq, reportedly suffering from depression and post-traumatic stress, and almost immediately became a media darling with his tales of U.S. soldiers routinely committing war crimes and atrocities. "

"Liberalism the Cause of Jihad in Europe?"

France has created a fertile environment for jihad and it's starting to look like they may get it.
"Liberalism the Cause of Jihad in Europe?" by Justin-Darr
"Europe is fast becoming ground zero in a clash between two equally intolerant cultures, radical Islam and liberalism.
If American liberalism has an Eden, it must be somewhere in France. France has positioned itself in the world as the self appointed 'Liberal Paradise.' Large scale social programs, crippling controls over business, the complete eradication of expressions of faith in public schools, year-long prison terms for anyone who might utter a word deemed to be 'offensive,' euthanasia for invalids, no death penalty, abortion pills, and a compulsive anti-Americanism, has made France the envy of liberals world-wide."

Bush to send troops to help France with riots

From Darrell Gutsche ...
President Bush has authorized the Joint Chiefs to begin drawing up a battle plan to pull France's ass out of the fire again. Facing an apparent overwhelming force of up to 400 pissed off teenagers Mr. Bush doubts France's ability to hold off the little pissants. "Hell, if the last two world wars are any indication, I would expect France to surrender any day now," said Bush. Joint Chiefs head, Gen. Peter Pace, warned the President that it might be necessary to send up to 5 marines to get things under control. The general admitted that 5 marines may be overkill but he wanted to get this thing under control within 24 hours of arriving on scene. He stated he was having a hard time finding even one marine to help those ungrateful bastards out for a third time but thought that he could persuade a few women marines to do the job before they went on pregnancy leave.

Failed suicide bomber hoped to die with husband

We'll never do it, of course (since we court martial soldiers who even put panties over prisoners heads), but one sure way to stop the suicide bombings is to kill their families everytime it happens.
The Globe and Mail: Failed suicide bomber hoped to die with husband
"With a deactivated explosives belt strapped to her body, an Iraqi woman was shown on Jordanian television confessing yesterday to joining her husband in the suicide attacks in Amman that killed 57 people."

BA: Sleep With A Vet For Veterans Day

Hey ladies ...
Beautiful Atrocities
"Today we remember that freedom isn't free. America is only safe because of the dedication of its brave servicemembers, whose sacrifices make freedom possible not just for real Americans, but also for nancy-boi liberals, bitter old harridans, celebrity bubbleheads, pathetic drunks, the deranged & the deluded. America's servicemen & women are real people with real lives & real needs. Also, talk is cheap. Show, don't tell. Make a vet's day really special."

Saudis Pledge $1 Billion to Rebuild Iraq

It's a start. Rice is over there twisting arms right now. Saudi Arabia has long been the cash box for Jihad so maybe this is a good message to send to al Qaida. But they need to send about 100 more of those billions which, after all, are actually American dollars that we are paying to them for their oil.

Vietnam vets find home in groups they once avoided

It used to be that Vietnam vets got the cold shoulder from VFW guys because they felt we lost the war and were always whining about agent orange but times and attitudes have changed and, of course, the World War II guys are dying off fast now.
USATODAY.com - Vietnam vets find home in groups they once avoided
"The American Legion has 845,749 Vietnam vets. That's a third of its members, the largest percentage from one war and the fastest-growing group, national commander Thomas Bock says.
Half the VFW membership is World War II or Korean War veterans, says spokesman Jerry Newberry. But one-third of the new members, and almost all the leaders, are Vietnam vets."

The father of the bride and the father of the groom (on the left and right in the photo were both killed. The bride and the groom, Ashraf Mohamed al-Akhras, were injured but survived.

Ali's actions didn't merit any medals

Ali does the "Rope-a-Dope" on Bush. This draft dodger, Cassius Clay, changed his name to Muhammad Ali and became a Muslim in order to avoid serving his country during the Vietnam war. Looks like the French will be fighting the war against terrorism after all - but at home in France.
WorldNetDaily: Radical Islam blamed for French rioting
"Daniel Pipes, an expert on Islam and the director of the Middle East Forum, a think tank promoting American ideals in that region, thinks the riots in France are a microcosm of the larger radical Islamic goal of gaining a solid foothold in Europe.

Times Cuts Patriotism from Marine's Letter

It's no wonder that biased anti-Bush news papers like the New York Times are losing circulation. Whatever your position is, most people do not want this kind of distortion. Below is a quote from the dead Marine's letter to his girl friend that the Times did not print. Instead, they only used a potion that they though supported their political bias.
Times Cuts Patriotism from Marine's Letter
" I don't regret going, everybody dies but few get to do it for something as important as freedom. It may seem confusing why we are in Iraq, it's not to me. I'm here helping these people, so that they can live the way we live. Not have to worry about tyrants or vicious dictators. To do what they want with their lives. To me that is why I died. Others have died for my freedom, now this is my mark.' "

Can you support the troops and not the war?

Can you support the troops and not the war?
"Here's the analogy I use when I hear the BS argument about supporting the troops but not the war:
You're a parent and your kid is a star on the HS football team. You love your son, feed him, clothe him, give him proper medical care. On the other hand you hate his football coach because of personality conflicts. The football team makes it to the state championship, but you're going to root for the opposing team and you're going to pull your kid out at halftime to undermine the coach's strategy to win, all because you don't like the coach.
Do you think you're supporting your son? "
Actually (and sadly), there probably are many situations where parents hope their child's team loses because they don't like the coach.

Divide and Conquer

The anti-American forces in the world must be loving this. The Republicans and Democrats fighting at home. The anti-war forces in the US going to war against their own country. While our troops are fighting and dying in the war on terror, our leaders are preoccupied with beltway politics and 'gotcha' tactics. Obviously it takes more than technology and well trained soldiers to fight in the modern world. It takes will power. The enemy is willing to send its sons and daughters out on suicide missions but we back off when 2,000 troops die. About 20,000 people are murdered every year in the United States and about 60,000 Americans die on US highways every year. With abortions running about 1,000,000 per year in the US and given that about 1% of the population serves in the military, then about 10,000 troops are killed every year right in the womb. But 2,000 dying in the war against terrorism over 2 1/2 years is apparently reason enough to give up.
Democrats intensify Bush slams-Nation/Politics-The Washington Times, America's Newspaper

Clerics still preaching hatred of West

If you go to war against someone, why would you let their spokesmen preach against you in your own backyard?
The Australian: Clerics still preaching hatred of West [November 03, 2005]
"MUSLIM clerics in Sydney and Melbourne - led by radicals Sheik Mohammed Omran and Sheik Abdul Salam Mohammed Zoud - are still preaching hatred against the West, urging followers in Arabic to resist peace and support insurgents waging war against Australian soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan.
In open defiance of John Howard's proposed new terror laws and the Prime Minister's demand that Muslim leaders desist from inflammatory rhetoric, Lakemba cleric Sheik Zoud has used his Friday prayer meetings over the past month to praise Muslim fighters."

In Dying, Colonel Broke a Promise to His Troops

Nothing is guaranteed in war.
In Dying, Colonel Broke a Promise to His Troops - Los Angeles Times
"At a prayer breakfast in Baghdad last week, Col. William Wood tearfully promised soldiers in the California National Guard battalion that the killing and wounding of soldiers in his battered unit would come to an end.
No more soldier photographs, he pledged, would be added under his watch to the already crowded wall at Forward Operating Base Falcon where the battalion honors its dead.
Less than 48 hours later, the 44-year-old Wood died in a roadside bomb explosion when he came to the aid of a fallen comrade. He was the highest-ranking American officer to die since the war began."

Michael Moore owns Halliburton?

In a new book out on 'Profiles in Liberal Hypocrisy' there are some interesting findings ...

  • According to schedule D of his income tax return, Michael Moore owns over 2,000 shares of Halliburton - the company he most vilified in his movie 'Fahrenheit 9/11'.

  • House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who proclaims her support for unions, yet the luxury resort, the vineyard and the restaurants she partly owns are strictly non-union.

  • Noam Chomsky has called the Pentagon 'the most hideous institution on earth,' yet his entire academic career was subsidized by the U.S. military.

  • Barbra Streisand is a big proponent of environmentalism, yet she drives an SUV and lives in a mansion that has a $22,000 annual water bill.

  • Hillary Clinton supports the right of thirteen-year-old girls to have abortions without parental consent -- yet she forbade thirteen-year-old Chelsea to pierce her ears and enrolled her in a school that would not distribute condoms to minors

I guess it's 'do as I say, not as I do'.

Taxpayers to bail out casinos?

Seems like nobdy is responsible for taking care of themselves anymore. Not even gamblers.
WorldNetDaily: Taxpayers to bail out casinos?
"Pro-family activists are working to defeat a provision in a hurricane-recovery bill in Congress that would, in part, provide federal tax breaks for casino owners to rebuild their businesses in the wake of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita.
'Giving precious tax dollars to lucrative gambling interests that are reporting billion-dollar profits is an outrage,' wrote Family Research Council President Tony Perkins in an e-mail to supporters."
